 National Children's Choir 

National Children’s Choir performed in the National Basketball arena in Tallagh on Wednesday 28th May. There were 600 boys & girls singing.

Our school has the biggest hall so we hosted rehearsals for schools in our area. These schools include St. Colmcille's Girl’s school, Bayside S.N.S & Scoil an Duinninigh. A few people were  selected to sing in the concert hall on the 27th of June. We wish them all the best of luck!

One of our 5th classes designed and made land yachts for the young scientist Exhibition. They used Hair dryers to move them. Five primary schools took part. All the children in the class took part. They met the Minister for Education Dr. Michael Woods.

Peace Posters

Congratulations to Irene Adams (5th class), who won the Peace Poster Finals, She drew a picture of the Earth with people holding hands around it.

Visit from the Minister

Michael Woods, Minister for Education, paid a visit to the school on Thursday, 18th January. He met with Mrs. McMahon, Mrs. Power, Fr. Heber and Fr. John, who showed him the plans for the new extension and also pointed out the refurbishment, which needs to be carried out on the existing building.

Children’s Mass

Fr. John has started a Children’s Mass, which he will have once a month. The Mass usually begins at 12:30pm and lasts about 40-45 minutes.

Credit Union Quiz

Our school took part in the Credit Union Schools Quiz. There were 3 senior (6th & 5th) teams and 2 junior (4th) teams. A 6th class team won 1st prize. They won a trophy and a £20 voucher and were asked to compete in the finals. 

 

Tree Planting

First the men cut the grass and sprayed it. Some parents came and dug the holes. Three were 80 holes. A man came and spoke to them about the benefits of planting. Then gave them a demonstration on how to do it. Finally they all got gloves and planted their trees!

New Wildlife Garden

The Senior School now has a new wildlife garden. A few parents came along on Saturday to do a spot of preparatory heavy digging. The children have since been able to do the planting and mulching. There are two small woodland coppices, a bog garden as well wildflower meadows. Bird tables and bat boxes have been hung from the trees and seating has been provided for children who wish to sit and enjoy this new garden

ESB logo Colouring Competition

Congratulations to Roisín Murphy  (4th class) who won the ESB Colouring Competition! Roisin won a Playstation 2 for herself as well as a new computer for the school!

Fancy Dress

The Senior School had a Non-uniform day to raise money for the Junior and Senior schools. Each class chose a theme and the children were encouraged to wear a costume to do with their theme. The Non-uniform day for the Junior School will take place on Friday, June 1st. The Senior School raised £321

Confirmation

Our 6th classes were confirmed on Sunday the 13th of May at 3:00pm. They were confirmed by Bishop Raymond Fields. Who made a long but enjoyable speech about Thomas Edison. On behalf of all the 6th classes we would like to thank Bishop Fields for coming.
