Clontarf (Cluain Tarbh), Co.Dublin, is a seaside suburb on the Dublin 3km (2m) -Howth 11km (7m) road. It is one stop on the DART from the city centre, has a cosy village atmosphere and most roads lead down to the sea. Some of the best roads back on to St.Anne's Park, with its award-winning rose garden. In 550 A.D. a church was founded on Castle avenue by St.Comgall of Bangor; nothing is known of its history. Clontarf is the celebrated as the place of Brain Boru's great victory over Leinster and Norse Dublin, Good Friday, 1014 A.D., where St.Lawrence Road stands today. Clontarf was a fishing village and a popular seabathing resort for city people around the time when the Vernon family were the largest land-owners in clontarf. Why not cross over to Bull island for a picnic, via the road bridge., or go for a swim on Dollymount Strand.

Clontarf is well served by bus and rail. The DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) service stops on Clontarf Road. The 130 bus, from the city centre (Lower Abbey Street). The 103 from Finglas. The 300 from Omni shopping centre (Santry)
