A Unique Flight

Puffin Passenger 'Eileen Maxwell' from Navan, prepares for lift off as Mike gives her a final flight briefing.

What made this flight so special is that Eileen has been blind from an early age and always wanted to fly in a Hot Air Balloon.

Blocked by the Landowner?

Oh No... after an early morning flight from Tullamore, Puffin has been blocked from leaving the farm it had landed in... hmmm, what's going on here?

Fed & Watered...

When we went to the landowners house, the lady had a BIG BREAKFAST prepared for us.
She was making sure we would not be leaving before then... amazing hospitality.

Puffin went on tour to the Kilbrin Harvest Festival near Kanturk in Co. Cork.
The locals were really looking forward to Puffin, so much in fact that
they couldn't wait, so they made their own... Check out the sandbag to the left (front) of the trailer and the blow torch gas to the right (rear).

Dancing in the Dark...

Staying at the Kilbrin Harvest Festival, we decided to do a "glow" for the village.

As you can see, it was a slight bit breezy, the reason being we were already 630 ft above sea level looking down into the scenic valley beneath us while doing this.

Puffin visits Pepperstown

Located just 1½ miles from Kells, we flew over this area during the August Bank Holiday weekend.

With thanks to the Dunne family for their kind permission in allowing us the use of their lands for launching.

Saying hello to the Landowner

Puffin new exactly where to fly, and promptly
tracked right over the farmers house, so we photographed
it for him.

We maintained full radio contact with the airfield (Trim Radio) during this maneuver. The tower invited us to do a "touch & go" so we asked them which aircraft would they like us to touch.
