NTL closes local channels

QVC rumoured as replacement

NTL has this week closed its local channels, Link and Cabletext. The Link Channel, which had been running for nearly fourteen years, broadcast a local noticeboard, some locally made programmes and the main news bullittens from ZDF, TVE, and RAI1. The loss of the latter means that there is no longer any foreign language programmes on the NTL analogue service.

NTL have not yet officially confirmed what will replace the local channels, except to say that the broadcast hours will be 7pm to 6am. Several posters to our Cable and MMDS forum indicate that the channel is likely to be shopping channel QVC.
