Who are they?
NTL are an American-owned, British-based cable
and telecommunications company, known until 1998 as
International CableTel. They came to Northern Ireland in
1996 and entered the Republic in 1999 when they took over

They hold the cable TV franchises for Dublin
(excluding Swords, Malahide, and Dundrum, and
including Leixlip, Dunboyne, and Bray), Galway, and
Waterford, and all of Northern
Ireland. In addition they hold MMDS franchises
for cells covering Counties Dublin, Galway,
Waterford, and Mayo - these are however to be up
for sale.
