GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH


This will involve specific research for those who wish to have their family history researched. Before beginning a search it is important to collect as much information as possible i.e.-


1. The name of the family
2. The Parish or Townland in which they lived
3. The approximate date for example person's living  in the 1840's-1860's may appear in the Primary Valuation (Griffiths Valuation)

Births, Deaths and Marriages,

Tithe Applotment Books 1823-28,

Hearth Money Rolls 1663-1669,

Book of Survey and Distribution 1662-1702,

Irish Wills,

1901 and 1911 census Reports,

Various Census reports where available,

Trade directories etc.

Recent telephone directories can be obtained (subject to availability)

In relation to Australia the following records are available in the National Archives


1. Transportation Registers 1836-57
2. Prisoner's Petitions and cases 1788-1836
3. State Prisoner's Petitions 1798-99
4. Convict reference files 1836-56, 1865-68
5. Free Settlers Papers 1828-52
6. Male Convict registrar 1842-47
7. Register of convicts on convict ships 1851-53
 


 
HERITAGE RESEARCH
 

The heritage side of the business includes historical research for exhibitions,
brochures and websites. Information on how to design and layout an exhibition
effectively, how to effectively write text and labels, evaluating heritage interpretation
in existing heritage centres/museums.
The history of your townland/parish, heritage profiles of towns and villages
