Wlecome to the home of Finglas Football Club

Special match report

There has been five matches since Finglas FC's thrashing of Rush athletic. Finglas FC's have only managed to secure 3 points out of a possible 15. Not good enough for a side struggling to finish in the top half of the league table.

The first match Finglas played was a disappointing one with St James of stillorgan beating Finglas 2-1. Finglas knows well that this team are a shower of posh gits and they should have treated them accordingly. However Finglas approached this game all-wrong and suffered the consequences. There was too much of the long ball game played by Finglas FC’s. This tactic cannot be used against a team who have an average have of 6-inch height advantage per player. Finglas were beaten in the air almost every time. All in all this game was a disaster. St James scored 2 soft goals which never should have happened but that’s the story of Finglas FC’s life. In fact the less said about this game the better. The only good thing to come out of it was Darren Murray scoring a free kick from outside the box. Finglas FC’s have one more chance to prove themselves against St James as they meet for the third and final time this season. My man of the match is Darren Murray.

Phoenix was Finglas FC’s next challenge in Naul Park. This was a slightly different game. I honestly have to say that Phoenix were very lucky to escape with a 1-1 draw. From the start Finglas piled on the pressure. They took the lead through Keith Ennis before half time with a superb lob over the phoenix keeper. A more skilful Fingals team outplayed Phoenix a team who are in contention of winning the league. Pheonix were beaten to almost every ball from the kick outs and if it weren’t for an unlucky penalty give away by Finglas Phoenix surely would have lost 3 points. This was the third and final meeting of the two teams who share their home pitch at Naul Park. My man of the match for this game was Finglas captain Brian Keenan.

The next match Finglas played was against the Mill FC’s. This was Finglas FC’s third game in five days and it showed.   Finglas started very slowly and let the Mill FC’s take control from start. It was clear that Finglas were tired as ridiculous mistakes and blunders let the mill score two messy goals. The first half was an absolute disaster from a Finglas point of view. There wasn’t a good tackle or a good pass strung together by any Finglas player. The first half finished 1-1. However the second half was a different story. Finglas came back on the pitch a more motivated team. They surged forward desperate to win the 3 points. Unfortunately Finglas left the back wide open and one mistake led to another Mill goal against the run of play. Finglas showed character and never once dropped their heads. They immediately took control again and the Mill were left defending their goal from and barrage of powerful shots. An introduction of Andy Eqwe proved to be a too much for the mill defence as they deliberately took him down in the box. Finglas scored a well-taken penalty leaving the score 2-2. My man of the match was Andy Eqwe.

Ardmount were the fourth match Finglas had in 7 days and again it showed. Ardmount are a good team with decent players in every part of the field. They used the ball well in the centre of the park as well as on the flanks. Ardmount did deserve the win of 1-0 but it could have just as easily gone the other way. Finglas conceded a penalty in the first half with an accidental handball inside the box by Colm Mullen. Sean smart came to the Oakwood mans rescue making a good save to a slightly less than perfect penalty. Colm Mullen continued the game totally composed and played his role as sweeper very well constantly encouraging his midfield to do better which is why he is named as my man of the match. Finglas again let in a soft goal and didn’t take their chances when they had them. Finglas have to play Ardmount again on Monday the 22nd of April in Naul Park. Hopefully there will be a better result at this match.

Finglas FC’s next challenge was against Malahide Utd. The score leaving the Naul Park was 1-1. It has to be said that Malahide United were very very united for Mondays match. In fact they united the best players from their five teams to play the league tie against Finglas. In the first match Finglas played against Malahide on the 1st of December they were an average everyday team. For last Saturdays match I myself could only recognise about 2 players and one of those was on the bench. It is a joke to think Malahide would take the game so seriously that they would leave their regulars on the bench to draft in better players from higher ranked teams. Well they got what they deserved for their unfair unsportsmanlike “daddy has 2 companies” behaviour. They should be asked to leave the league or name a panel for each team to stick to. Nothing is confirmed at the moment but the secretary of Finglas FC’s has insured me he is investigating the legality of using different players from different leagues when it suits. The only thing that is confirmed is that “white boots” is going to get a good old-fashioned root in the ass at the next possible opportunity. Finglas played very poorly and Malahide did well. Due to confusion between the Finglas defence Malahide went ahead in the first half. Not that they didn’t have plenty of opportunities to go ahead by 3 or 4 goals. Quite frankly its about time Finglas got some of the luck they have been lacking all season. Malahide also blatantly cheated abusing the referees trust in the linesman. They constantly called balls to their advantage paying no heed to the basic rules of football. All in all Malahide let themselves down last Monday in Naul Park. They are a disgrace to the A.F.L. Finglas got their goal 5 minutes from the end and it was a great feeling to wipe the smile of these silver spoon fed faces. There is one match remaining between Finglas and Malahide and I feel I can honestly speak for the all of the team when I say Finglas look forward to meeting Malahide again no matter what the result is. There is no man of the match for this game because too many mistakes were made by all.

There will be a one report for the next 2 matches between Finglas, Ardmount and rush. Im sorry there wasn’t a separate report for each match but I have a life.

Till next time.
