WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE OF MALAHIDE SCHOOL OF MUSIC

Malahide School of Music was founded 18 years ago and is situated on the East coast, 15km North of Dublin.

We offer lessons in piano, keyboard, violin, viola, oboe, flute, recorder, singing, guitar, drums, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, music theory, Junior Cert music and Leaving Cert music. We also have a recorder consort and string orchestra.

Individual tuition is offered by more than 20 teachers at the Malahide School of Music, which is based at St. Oliver Plunkett's National School, Grove Road, Malahide (first left off Church Road) on Tuesdays (3.30-9pm), Wednesdays (3.30-8pm), Thursdays (3.30-8pm) and Saturdays (9am-2pm). Some teachers teach in their houses on other days.

As a member of the Malahide School of Music you may:

  • learn music from any of our teachers
  • take part in our many concerts
  • take your practical exams in the School for the Associated Board and the Royal Irish Academy of Music
  • take part in our chamber music day
  • hire an instrument

A registration fee (covers administration, insurance, caretaking and light and heating in the school) depends on whether you take lessons in the school or at teacher's home.

  • the registration fee of E60 is for those who take lessons in the school. It consists of E39 which is rental fee of the building. This fee goes to St.Oliver Plunkett School. The following scale is for additional children from the same family: E30 for the second child and E20 for the third and subsequent child. The second part of the registration fee is E21 (E27 per family) which is an administration fee. This fee goes to Malahide School of Music. The scale is as following: 1 student - E60, 2 students - E96, 3 students - E116, 4 students - E136.
  • the registration fee of E21 (E27 per family) is for those who take lessons at teacher's house
  • the registration fee for group lessons: 1student - E36, 2 students - E57, 3 students - E72
  • the registration fee for "Friends" of the school when learning on the premises: 1 student - E39, 2 students - E69, 3 students - E89. When a "Friend" of the school is lerning of the premises there is no charge for registration fee. Please see "Become a frind" icon for more details.
